Via delle Quattro Fontane was part of the so-called Strada Felice, established by Pope Sixtus V: 2,787 meters long, it ran along Viale Trinità  dei Monti and Via Sistina to Piazza S. Croce in Gerusalemme. The 4 fountains are located at the corners of the four buildings at the intersection of Via del Quirinale and Via 20 Settembre: one represents the Arno river god, with its curly hair, beside a lion, the heraldic emblem of Florence; representing the Tiber river is the fountain with La Lupa, the wolf, supporting a cornucopia filled with fruit; in the third fountain is the goddess Juno (Fortitude); the forth, finally, represents the goddess Diana (Loyalty).

Via Sistina, where artists like Piranesi, Thorwaldsen and Gogol stayed, is currently home to some of the most chic and exclusive shops and restaurants.

Continuing on Viale Trinità  dei Monti, you will arrive at Pincio. From this Roman hill there is a beautiful panoramic view of the Piazza del Popolo and St. Peter, and there is also the charming public park, Villa Borghese.
